Sharon A. Kour — Founding Partner
Sharon is a founding partner of Reconstruct LLP and a career litigator. Her practice centers on the intersection of commercial disputes and formal restructuring proceedings under the Companies’ Creditors Arrangement Act, Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act, and Ontario Business Corporations Act. As a regular presence on the Toronto Commercial List, she is highly regarded for her intellectual depth and her ability to navigate the procedural complexities of high-stakes insolvency files.
Sharon provides the tactical advice required to advance mandates toward resolution. She is a skilled consensus-builder who aligns the interests of sophisticated stakeholders in complicated, high-leverage scenarios. She delivers stability and composure in high-pressure environments, allowing clients to execute legal maneuvers with precision.
As a pragmatic negotiator and a formidable advocate, Sharon is sought out by clients who require a lawyer who appreciates commercial reality while maintaining the litigation pressure necessary to drive matters to resolution.
Called to the bar in both Ontario and Newfoundland and Labrador, Sharon acts for debtors, creditors, and court officers across Canada. She appears regularly in Atlantic Canada courts on behalf of court-appointed officers, managing complex regional mandates and navigating stakeholder dynamics effectively.
Sharon advises boards and principals on fiduciary duties and director liabilities in insolvency and distressed scenarios. She provides advice on mitigating litigation risk and personal liability for leadership navigating commercial crises.
Prior to co-founding the firm, Sharon practiced litigation and restructuring at McCarthy Tétrault LLP. She is a past Chair of the Insolvency Section of the Ontario Bar Association, a frequent speaker, and is consistently recognized as a leader in her field by Chambers and Partners, Lexpert, and Best Lawyers.
